MobyDict is universal educational program that can help you memorize words of foreign language, geographical facts, multiplication table or any other facts of your choice. The testing is similar to using flashcards.
Main features
- written test and visual test can quickly help in your learning process
- creating your book files is easy: use any text editor of your choice
- the words that were not answered correctly are repeated in cycle until user learnt
- you can go through all the words that were not answered correctly at the end of testing
- the words can be learnt in segments and that way go effectively through a large book file
- you can use synonyms; during the testing it is enough to enter just one of the synonyms
- Unicode support - it is very easy to enter accented characters (Portuguese, Chinese , etc.)
- special profile for children - supporting sounds and pictures to keep children attention
- many parameters are customizable - font type and size, audio files, pictures..
- html support for writing pronunciation: this is especially useful for complex pronunciation e.g. in Portuguese, to mark accent in bold
- runs on any java supported platform (Windows, UNIX, Apple ...)

Mobydict is open source and is licensed under GNU GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE.

Installation
Mobydict is written in java and it means that you need to have java JRE (java run time environment) installed on your computer. The best way to run the program is using Java WebStart technology, which streamlines the process of installation. Advanced users can install the program manually.
Download and start Mobydict using Java WebStart(recommended)
If you do not have JAVA installed, you can install it easily using this link (windows only).
Manual installation
Download the zip file (below) and extract it into a location on your computer e.g. c:\Mobydict. Then start the program using "WinMoby.bat" (MS Windows).
